News and Announcements...

5th Grade Young Readers Choice Award Party

Students from Mrs. Alexanders class had to read at least 2 books off the grade 4-6th Young Readers List and to be a special guest you had to read the entire list. Four of her students completed the list! Carson Gardner, Harrison White, Evan Telford, and Michael Madsen. Sue and Brian Ahern catered their lunch and incorporated foods from each book on the list. Students got to vote for their favorite book in actual voting booths from the county. The four boys who completed the list also received a gift certificate to use at the book fair. Wondering what that picture is of the item that looks like a piece of cheese? That was the cheese touch from Diary of A Wimpy Kid, which was on the list. So they played a game of Cheese Touch outside.

THANK YOU
212 students from Hailey Elementary School invaded Dollar & Baldy to
investigate gravitational forces at work. Simultaneously, we had 28
students take over the Hailey Ice Rink to test theories of inertia. 6
students propelled themselves, along with Norway’s Nordic Olympic Team,
at Sun Valley’s Nordic Center. At Rotarun, 101 2nd graders spent a day
experimenting with bodies at rest & motion. All of these winter
scientists were a part of the Hailey Elementary School’s Winter Sports
Program. On February 1st through 4th, Hailey Elementary School winter
scientists celebrated the 31st anniversary of our annual winter sports
program. Since 1979, Sun Valley Com. has graciously donated lift tickets
to our students as well as our parent & staff chaperones. Our annual
Winter Sports Program promotes the opportunity for students to
experience outdoor winter sports, some for the very first time. Going
from the magic carpet on Dollar to their very first run down Full Dollar
was inspirational. This program provides opportunities for our students
to grow in strength and character. They learn to appreciate and respect
our Wood River Valley and all the possibilities
that are provided from having a first class resort.
A program of this nature could never have been possible without the
generous support and commitment of the following: Sun Valley Company,
Dollar and River Run Staff, Sun Valley Ski Patrol, Rotarun Ski Area,
Hailey Ice, Sturtevant’s Hailey, Hailey Elementary School PTA, Hailey
Elementary School Staff and Parent Chaperones , Hailey Elementary School
Parent Scholarship Contributors, Blaine County School District, Blaine
County School District Transportation Department.

We sincerely thank you for your enthusiastic support
to the children of our community.
