ImageStudent Teaching in the Blaine County School District

We welcome students in an approved teacher preparation program who desire to perform an internship or student teaching with our District, especially those students who are interested in obtaining experience in bilingual (Spanish/English) classrooms.

Our District currently has contracts with the following universities:
  • Boise State University
  • Idaho State University
  • Western Governor’s University
For colleges/universities not on this list, a contract would need to be created.

In order to student teach in our District, we must receive the following information:
  • Letter requesting placement from the student’s Director of Field Experiences.
  • Official transcripts from the college or university.
  • Biographical information on the student teacher.
Once the above information is received, a student teacher will be placed and assigned to a cooperating teacher.  Subsequently, the student teacher will also be placed on the next monthly Board Agenda for approval by the Board of Trustees.

After approval, we ask that you attend a Guest Orientation session (also held once monthly) so you can become familiar with our District.  We may ask you to complete some additional paperwork and be fingerprinted for an FBI criminal background check.

If you have any questions regarding student teaching with Blaine County School District, please contact Laurie Kaufman, Clerk of the Board, by email to lkaufman@blaineschools.org or phone at (208) 578-5000.
