Meet our Board Members

Julie Dahlgren, Chairman

Julie Dahlgren was appointed to the Board of Trustees in September 2003 and elected in 2004. She was elected Chairman in 2009.  She has a BA in English and an MA in Education (University of California, Santa Barbara). In 2003 she retired after 34 years of teaching.

Dr. Daniel Parke, Vice-Chairman

Dan has lived in Blaine County most of his life. He graduated from Carey High School and did his undergraduate work at Ricks College and Utah State University. He has a B.S. degree and Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic. Dan and his wife Shawna have five children who all attend Carey High School and Carey Elementary School.  He was elected vice-chairman in 2009.

Paul Bates, Trustee

Paul Bates was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2009.  He is a self-employed wood worker and has lived in the Wood River Valley since 1973.  He has two children, Maddie and Eron, who attend Blaine County schools.  Paul has extensively volunteered and shown his commitment to our schools, including being the vice-president of the Wood River Middle School PTA for the past two years.  He looks forward to making a positive contribution to public education in Blaine County.

Steven Guthrie, Trustee

Steve has lived in the Wood River Valley for the past twenty-eight years and is grateful for the lifestyle and opportunities that our community has to offer. Steve is currently employed by the Friedman Memorial Airport Authority and holds the position of Airport Security Coordinator. His two children, ten and thirteen, both attend our Blaine County public schools. Steve looks forward to serving as your elected Blaine County School District (BCSD) Board of Trustee.

Mari Beth Matthews, Trustee

Mari Beth Matthews was appointed to the board September 2005 and reelected in May 2006. She has a B.S. degree in Advertising Communications from the University of Idaho. She currently is self-employed as an internet consultant and website designer. Mari Beth and her husband have three boys who attended Hemingway Elementary School and now are enrolled in Wood River Middle School.
