The Wood River Fire & Rescue Firefighters’
Association was founded in 2002. It is the mission of the
Association to provide assistance, in times of need, to those
affected by tragedy. In addition, the association will support
the firefighters of Wood River Fire & Rescue with additional
training, equipment and assistance in an effort to provide the
most comprehensive fire protection and emergency services to the
community.
The Wood River Fire & Rescue Firefighters’ Association will
award a scholarship of up to $500 to a Blaine County student or
students seeking an education in Healthcare or Fire Science.
As the general population expands and life expectancy rises, the
demand on Healthcare and Emergency Responders also increases.
The Association feels it is necessary to help support and boost
the number of individuals willing to study in Healthcare or Fire
Science to meet these demands.
Our goal is not only to increase the number of trained
individuals in the fields of Healthcare and Fire Service within
our community, but to help provide an education for individuals
seeking employment in public safety nationwide. The Association
feels that financial assistance will allow students to study for
a career without the burden of paying back school loans once
they enter the workforce.
Each year the Association will award one new student with a
scholarship, as long as all requirements are met, and allow that
student to reapply the next year if the student maintains a 3.0
GPA or higher during their first year of study. This program
will continue annually for a maximum of two scholarships awarded
per year.
The Wood River Fire & Rescue Firefighters’ Association envisions
this as an ongoing project and is committed to provide support
to students interested in public safety for years to come.
